So we just strung up my son's guitar, and I ran into a problem I always seem to run into: As we add tension to the strings, the saddle tips forward at a slight angle. I can still adjust it in its angled-setting to proper intonation, but I hate the forward angle. Does anyone else have this problem, and how do you fix it? I was pretty careful to try to cut a slot that's the same thickness as the saddle, although I suppose there's always just a little wiggle room in there. |

I just found this topic in an old AG mag. article by Frank Ford. From what he said, I don't think you want to risk the life of the bridge. Maybe you could make a new saddle to fit the slot. |

Kelby - there should be -NO- wiggle in the saddle slot, it should be a slight compression fit. I make mine so that Its possible but a little difficult to remove with your hand. Nice and snug -- |

Thank you both for your responses. I may have overstated things when I said there was "wiggle room," but in light of the comment that it should be a little difficult to pull out by hand, I should probably make it a little tighter of a fit. |

I cut my saddle slot with about a 4 degree backward tilt. I have found that with a slight tilt the strings actually pull the saddle up nice and straight with no forward leaning at all. Works for me! |
